It is Thursday and I am listening to one of the last sessions at the McAuliffe Conference. Chris Lehmann challenged us to make a difference in NH by taking steps of action. Please use this space to post your steps and ideas, your blog posts, links to your efforts.

    Two Quotes come to mind
"If not us, who? If not now, when?”
    and

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead.

I think we need to start by deciding what we want education to look like. Please comment on the following questions:

    • If you could design an educational system, what would be the important components?
    • How do we take back the education process (from government, from administrators that may not be responsive, etc.)?
    • How do we move from support groups to action?

These questions were posed by Chris Lehmann in a session at CMTC10 titled "Thinking Out Loud". As part of the discussion, he asked participants how blog posts are different from your private journals and summarized the ensuing discussion by stating that blogging publically takes you out of the realm of people into the world of ideas.

We need concrete ideas to move forward with educational change. The ideas, publicity and push for change need to come from us, the teachers and administrators who truly care about what is happening in our schools. Please help jump start this effort by adding your answers to the above questions. If we cannot verbalize what we want the system to look like, how can we expect to get the change that we want.

Chris Lehmann challenged those of us that attended the break-out session to do something to get the changes started by working within our zone of control and then pushing outward. LET'S DO IT!!

I am a new member and haven't attended the events but I do advocate daily for using technology with literacy.  My goal is to share what I know about technology tools with others and to present research to back it up.  I have Delicious accounts for both reading and technology to share great websites and resources.  http://www.delicious.com/tech6to8 and http://www.delicious.com/NHReads2010

I hope to share my technology presentation with others in the state.  I am working on that.

    Glad I joined NHSTE!
